Book review -
I would really recommend this as a read - not only does it tell the story of Chris Guthrie growing up in rural Scotland, but there is also a little romance set against the backdrop of the story of Scotland and the shift from the agricultural to the industrial. I also really like that it picks out one of my favourite songs 'The flowers of the forest'. It is also written from a female perspective.
